Hadi Seyyed-Afghahi told IRNA on Saturday that the most important outcome of a recent meeting on Syria in Moscow, which was held in the presence of the deputy foreign ministers of Iran, Russia, Turkiye and Syria, was to remove the stumbling blocks on the way to materialize a peace plan between Syria and Turkiye.
Referring to the complexities surrounding the resumption of relations between Ankara and Damascus, Seyyed-Afghahi stressed that the presence of Turkey in a parts of the Syrian territory is a major problem.
He referred to statements from Syria saying that if Turkey intends to solve the problems existing between the two countries, it should show its good will in practice and prove that it really seeks to pave the ground for reconciliation.
Reiterating on recent developments in Syria, the analyst said that many Arab countries are restoring their relations with Damascus and are after reopening their embassies in the Arab country.
He said Saudi Arabia, which was once one of the main supporters of militants and separatists in Syria, has now changed its policies and its foreign minister is to visit Damascus soon.
